Hellblade was mostly received very well and people commended it's attempt to focus on mental illnesses and everyone thought they did something a game has never done and portrayed mental health almost exactly how it is. However there was a few complaints about how the game handled it and many people spoke out that the game did not get mental heath 100% correctly portrayed but the game developers did a lot better than most other game developers. An article writer on IGN wrote abut how Senua inspired him to deal with his mental issues that he had. He described Senua as a mascot for gamers all over the world. Here is the article: https://uk.ign.com/articles/2017/09/25/the-cathartic-intensity-of-hellblade-senuas-sacrifice

In terms of reviews the game got:
88% Metacritic

4.5/5 Trusted reviews

9/10 IGN

8/10 Gamestop

So overall the game was received very well. The game has a bit of fan art but not much so some fans are still active with the game franchise.

B) Representation
The gender balance in Hellblade is good as there is not many characters and the main character is a girl and the ghost that follows her around is a man so the genders are balanced there is not many other characters in the game other than monsters and a few gods. The age balance is also good because the ghost that follows the main character is more on the old side and the main character herself is more on the younger side. The game does not feature ethnicity problems because it is set back in time and there is only two big characters and there ethnicity is unknown. I did not notice any stereotypes. This game showed women as more than the "love making" person that other films and video games have shown woman to be. In hellblade the main character is a strong independent woman that can defend herself and fend for herself while also giving her a fragile emotional state that could easily break. The actor was picked for this character because one of their employee's had experienced this type of mental illness before so she could perfectly act this part. The ghost had to dress up to look like the character for the acting in game whereas the main characters actor had to dress up in a motion capture suit.

C)Do videogames make you violent?
Personally the idea that video games make people violent sounds stupid to me because while it can show younger audiences horrible images it doesn't encourage the child to want to go do that to people. One of the articles stated that a mass shooter used Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to train how to use a gun and that is completely fake because shooting a gun in a Call Of Duty game is completely different than in the real world e.g. in the real world guns weigh a lot, Do not always aim straight, have recoil, magazines can get blocked, you have to know how to reload them, and you have to have the courage to actually pull the trigger. Call Of Duty doesn't teach you any of these things this person was clearly trying to get off easier by blaming it on videogames. Another thing that proves videogames aren't the reason the mass shootings happened is that many people such as myself have played these games and I have not become a violent killer who shoots everyone in a school. I have never even had thoughts of doing that to a school. It all really depends on the brain of the person playing the games because if a person has a damaged brain they may not understand you shouldn't do the things you do in game in real life but with people who's brains are not damaged they know they shouldn't go do it in real life. As for hellblade the violence in the game is very focused around the main character Senua rather than focused around others and hurting others so I do not believe this would inspire someone to hurt someone also the fighting in the game is with swords and people do not tend to kill people with swords anymore. At one point the game does say the F word which could be a ethical issue with swearing. However there is only one swear throughout the whole game so it should not cause much argument. The game is ninja theories IP so if anyone stole assets from the game it would cause a whole legal debate. Another ethical issue would be how Ninja theory handle mental health, more specifically psychosis. However people have commended Ninja Theory on their amazing portrayal of psychosis and people who have psychosis have been inspired by the main character Senua and how she managed to cure her psychosis therefore because of this good response it will make more people want to buy the game. A issue is that the game is rated PEGI 18 therefore a lot of people will tend to stay away from the game because of this rating so a lot people won't be able to get the message it is trying to put out. E.g. any children under the age of 18 who have psychosis would not be able to get inspiration from the game therefore the audience of the game is very limited because of such high PEGI ratings. which will effect the games sales and the companies ability to make future games because of a lack of money.

D) PEGI rating of hellblade
I think the rating of hellblade is 16 because the violence isn't about killing innocents or going on a rampage it is only used in some scenes and only features blood splatters every time the character hits an enemy. Other themes of the game would not allow the game to be less than PEGI 16. The labels the game would have are: violence (because of the violent action scenes) Fear (because the game features some creepy scenes).
Hellblade is actually an 18 PEGI rating and has a violence and bad language label. I can see why it was an 18 I just did not think it was bad enough to be 18. I knew for sure it wouldn't be under 16 considering the violence looked real enough and in the PEGI 16 rating it mentions violence looks real. There are no drugs in hellblade or any sexual activity so it partly threw me off judging the game to be PEGI 18 as it didn't feature these aspects I didn't think it would be PEGI 18. I did think some of the violence in the game could have pointed towards the game being a PEGI 18 but I thought it would be more realistic for the game to be PEGI 16. I also did not realise there was bad language in hellblade so if I knew that it would've helped me decide on a rating.
I do not think they changed the game because of the regulatory body because Hellblade is already rated PEGI 18 so it can't be much worse than that and hellblade itself is not a game that is super violent or horrific it does not try to be that it tries to send a message to people. There is not anything that they really could have added to disturb the regulatory body to make them remove it from the game or change it.
